1 菅首相やや優位(民主党代表選中盤情勢)
民主党代表選の投開票(14日)まで1週間となった7日、毎日新聞社が国会議員と党員・サポーター、地方議員の支持動向を調査したところ、全体に菅首相が優位に戦いを進めていることが分かった(9月8日毎日新聞)。
2 エコカー補助金終了
経済産業省は8日、新車購入に最大25万円を支給するエコカー補助金制度を7日付の申請で終了したと発表。8月下旬から駆け込みの申請が増え予算が底をついたため。(9日朝日新聞)
3 トヨタ「ブラジル新工場着工」
トヨタ自動車は8日、ブラジルのサンパウロ州ソロカバ市で同国2ヶ所目となる完成車工場に着工。新興国向け戦略小型車の生産を計画。投資額約6億ドル(約500億円)で、2012年から年7万台体制で生産を目指す。(9月9日日本経済新聞)
4 全日空(ANA)「格安航空参入」
全日空が9日、2011年度に格安航空会社(LCC)に参入することを決定。観光やビジネスで急拡大が見込まれるアジア向け需要を取り込む狙い。専攻するアジアのLCCとの激烈なコスト競争が予想される。(9月10日日本経済新聞)
5 外国人留学生が過去最高
日本の大学や専修学校でなどで学ぶ外国人留学生が増加。日本学生支援機構の調べによると、2009年5月時点の留学生総数は前年比約7%増の13万2720人。中国が約7万9000人で全体の6割近くを占め前年比9%増。(8日日本経済新聞)

1. Prime Minister Kan holds a better position (In the middle phase of DPJ presidency election campaign)
According to the survey by Mainichi among Diet members, Party members and Local assembly members done on the 7th, a week before the voting date for the DPJ presidency election to be held on the 14th, Prime Minister Kan holds a better position in general. (Mainichi Sept. 8)
2. Eco-car subsidy program ended
The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry announced on the 8th that the Eco-car subsidy program which gives as much as \250,000 to the buyer of a new car was terminated after last applications were received on the 7th. Applications for the fund have largely increased from the end of August and funds for the program has run out. (Asahi Sept. 9)
3. Toyota builds a new factory in Brazil
Toyota, on the 8th, started building 2nd factory for new cars in Sorocaba(?), Brazil. It will produce strategic small cars for the developing countries. The total amount of investment will be approx. US$600million (\50billion).
The new factory plans to produce 70,000 cars a year in 2012. (Nikkei Sept.9)
4. All Nippon Airways (ANA) challenges budget airlines
ANA announced on the 9th that it will launch a budget airline (LCC) in 2011
to meet rapidly increasing demands in Asian market. Harsh competition is expected among other LCCs. (Nikkei Sept. 10)
5. Number of foreign students hits the new record
The number of foreign students in Japan studying at universities and vocational schools have increased. According to Japan Student Survices Organization in May, 2009 the number recorded 132,720
7% more than the previous year. The number of students from China was approx. 79,000 holding about 60% of the total increasing by 9% from the previous year. (Nikkei Sept. 8)
